September 2, 1945 : Ho Chi Minh proclaimed the independence of Vietnam and the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

September 9, 1976 : Chairman Mao Zedong – a political theorist, military strategist, poet, and communist revolutionary who led the New Democratic Revolution in China leading to the creation of the People’s Republic of China, breathed his last on this day. His theories and contributions to the world communist movement continue to show the path of liberation.

September 13, 1929 : Martyrdom day of Jatindra Nath Das. He was an Indian revolutionary who strived to make India independent from the British Raj. Only 25 years old at the time, Das had undertaken a hunger strike along with Bhagat Singh and other imprisoned freedom fighters in the Lahore Central Jail, passing away after a 63-day-long fast.

September 17, 1879: Birthday of Periyar EV Ramasamy, the ‘Father of the Dravidian Movement,’ was a radical social activist who led a movement against caste system, patriarchy, and Brahminical hegemony in Tamil Nadu.

September 28, 1991 : Martyrdom Day : Shankar Guha Niyogi was a trade unionist who was the founder of the Chhattisgarh Mukti Morcha, a labour union run in the town of Dalli Rajhara Mines. He established Shaheed Hospital in Bhilai for the miners and others. Niyogi was shot and killed while asleep in his house by hired assassins of industrialists.
