Spark* magazine marked the 94th martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh with an evening of music, art, and poetry. The event titled “Do you hear the people sing?” brought together students from all over Bangalore to perform at the event. Alongside the boisterous performances comrades recalled the life of the revolutionary Bhagat Singh reflecting on how student-youth can carry his spirit forward in such oppressive times.

To aid in this Spark released its first booklet containing some of the most essential writings of Bhagat Singh. The articles on communalism and caste create the basis for a Marxist understanding of the questions by connecting superstructural issues with the existing economic order. His call for the student and youth of the country comes through the article ‘To Young Political Workers’ where he emphasises the need for a revolutionary party to bring about a revolution on the path towards communism. The booklet was released by Gayatri Menon, social scientist and Ramneek Singh, playwright.
